Our Fundraising Heroes

Aico have been consistent and constant supporters of the Electrical Industries Charity.

From their support of the recent Fire Walk and their sponsorship of the upcoming powerBall, as well as their attendance at numerous events, they truly are industry heroes, and here at the EIC we are so thankful for all they do. In 2020 Aico confirmed their identity as electrical industry superheroes by donating a ginormous sum of £25,000 to the Electrical Industries Charity. Corporate donations have been steadily declining for the charity over the last two years, and Aico’s more than generous donation has meant that EIC can support 63 families with a financial grant. EIC can offer 80 psychiatric assessments to ensure those within our sector get the right diagnosis and subsequent help they need. £25,000 from Aico means 416 people can receive a counselling session and 17 people can enjoy a respite break from caring for a loved one. A donation to EIC is not just a donation to a faraway cause; it is giving back to our industry, your colleagues, your friends and ultimately yourself. We could not continue to support the number of people we do without the donations and consideration of companies like Aico. Thank you so much for your donation!

Edmundson’s Electrical have donated a humongous £40,000 to aid those supported by EIC.

Edmundson’s Electrical are one of the biggest wholesalers within our sector, so to have their ongoing support is essential for the survival of EIC. Already, EEL support the charity wholeheartedly with their own fundraising events like fishing days and gala balls, as well as by attending lots of events hosted by EIC throughout the country. While Edmundson’s Electrical support EIC valiantly, the charity also supports numerous EEL staff and branches throughout trying times. It is through this sort of partnership where companies support the charity and the charity supports the company that the electrical and energy sector will thrive. In the month of February, we spent £35,500 on counselling, which covered 59% of our entire case load. Thanks to Edmundson’s Electrical we can fund our mental health services for an entire month.

Fire Walk 2020 raises vital funds for EIC

In March, 25 participants from all over Scotland took part in the Fire Walk, a five-metre walk over burning embers to raise vital funds for the EIC. Teams from Rexel, Eaton, MACD Electrical, Schneider, Edmundson’s Electrical and Aico, as well EIC’s Marcella McArthur, took part in a 90-minute ‘mind over matter’ seminar and then took on the burning challenge. The teams raised an incredible £5,159 for those who need a helping hand within the electrical sector across the UK. A massive thank you to everyone who took part and to Rexel and Aico for hosting this incredible event.

R&B Star have a ball fundraising for EIC

Electrical wholesalers R&B Star hosted their annual charity ball in aid of Electrical Industries Charity and helped to support those within our sector who need assistance this new decade. At both the 2018 and 2019 charity balls R&B Star, their employees, colleagues and guests raised an incredible £2,000. This sum can help 5 families in need of assistance by awarding them our financial grants, and it can help 10 people take steps towards getting the mental health support they need through a psychiatric assessment.

TClarke’s #Walk2Wheel helps the EIC keep rolling

A team of TClarke staff in Scotland walked from their office in Falkirk to the famous Falkirk wheel totalling approximately ten miles. The team had been supported by the charity after one of their colleagues became terminally ill with cancer, and they wanted to give something back to the others the charity help. Staff, clients and friends came together to support the group and they managed to raise an incredible £1,855 for EIC. A fantastic total from the Falkirk fundraisers – thank you!

BEAMA and Gambica annual lunch toasts to EIC

The BEAMA annual lunch is always a great occasion to toast the year gone and catch up with friends and colleagues from across the industry. EIC are lucky enough that each year BEAMA choose to fundraise for the charity through their raffle. Those in attendance were so generous and managed to raise £2,215 for the charity, a great total from a fabulous day out. Thanks to everyone who took a chance on the raffle and helped to make a difference.

Elektra Awards creates sparks

In December EIC attended the Elektra Awards where over 400 industry leaders and 150 worldwide companies joined to celebrate the work of the electrical sector. The winners had a brilliant night with those attending celebrating achievements and pioneering technology. The EIC were also celebrated on the evening and received a £500 donation from the chairman of Harwin PLC who also received the lifetime achievement award. Thank you to the Elektra awards and Harwin PLC for their support.

Industry heroes Aico make a massive difference to EIC

Aico have been true industry heroes for EIC and have helped the charity to revolutionise the lives of many in the sector who have been struggling with long-term illness, poor mental health and all manner of other issues. Not only did Aico donate an incredible £25,000 to the charity but they also donated a further £5,000 to support EIC. Their support has been phenomenal and dedication to the sector unfaltering. Thank you Aico for all you do!

A thank you to James from CEF and his wife Jade

James Cross from CEF and his wife Jade recently donated £500 to the charity after attending our Yorkshire powerBall event, and we’d like to say a massive thank you. Individual donations from our supporters are so important to the charity’s survival, and James and Jade have helped to make a massive difference to their colleagues and friends within the industry.

The EDA and EIC work closely together and their annual Scottish function is no different. Hosted in October of 2019 some of the biggest names in electrical distribution came together for a great evening of networking with new faces and old pals. In the process the guests managed to raise an incredible £2,830 for EIC. Thank you again for your support.

Friends of the charity, the ECA, have long fundraised for EIC and their annual ball in Derby is no different. The ECA East Midlands region put on a great event with a Supremes tribute act, fancy dress photobooth and delectable three-course meal at the Derby County Cricket Pavilion. The scorching summer sun provided the perfect backdrop for the evening and guests in attendance raised a phenomenal £2,057.79 for those in our sector who have fallen on hard times.

Npower generate fundraising energy for EIC

A huge thank you to the generous people of Npower Leeds who donated a phenomenal £1,000 to EIC to help those in the electrical and energy sector when they need it most. £1,000 can go a long way in providing invaluable assistance. It can purchase food shopping, pay for water bills, offer counselling support and a listening ear. Your support means the world!

Devon to Dorset

There were a few sore legs and blisters when Team NAPIT took on the jagged coast from Devon to Dorset. They dominated the 50 km walk along the Jurassic Coast to raise funds for the EIC, and we can’t thank them enough for wearing out their trainers for such a great cause.

The Electrical Industries Charity is honoured and proud to be one of the charities that the queen is a patron of.

Barnsley Mastered the Peaks

Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough are three jaw-dropping peaks in Yorkshire. The 24-mile trek across them, which includes a 1,585 m ascent, was no match for the LEW Electrical Distributors Barnsley Team, who mastered the peaks in ten hours. As tough as the peaks were, the pain was overshadowed by the incredible views, great company and determination to support the EIC.

The Sky's the Limit

Steve Pope from CEF achieved a boyhood dream of jumping out an airplane not once but twice this spring. To get his money’s worth from a slower descent, Steve got his weight well below the limit. Over four days in Empuriabrava, Spain, Steve completed one tandem skydive jump and one solo skydive jump to raise money for the EIC and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Roll Up, Roll Up!

To raise money for the EIC, Aico put on a carnival family fun day extravaganza. The mild summer's day saw teams face off in the sumo ring, nerves tested in giant Jenga and the management take one for the team as they stepped into the stocks.
