Fundraising
We rely on industry members fundraising for us so we can continue supporting our sector day in, day out. You can tackle a fundraising activity as an individual or as a company, whatever you decide to do EIC have tons of ways in which we can support you. Every week across the United Kingdom companies and individuals just like you are coming up with great fundraising ideas to bring people together, learn new skills, raise funds and have fun in the process! There are so many ways to be inspired and our handy fundraising pack gives you some ideas to what you can do to support our sector.
Check it out below and once you have picked your activity don't forget to download the sponsorship form and start asking those around you to support your efforts. EIC can also help you to create a donations page, social media campaign and post to you an EIC charity bucket. Volunteering
Volunteering is a sure-fire way to make you feel happier and give something back to our industry. You can help by organising an event, joining our regional committees, signing up to become a member of our board or taking on a fundraising activity - whichever you choose to do you are volunteering and making a difference to our sector!
Join a regional committee
Our Regional Committees organise and host over 43 events throughout the year. From golf days to dinners, and fishing days to glamorous balls they generate a big percentage of EIC annual income. Not only do these events and activities provide much-needed funds, but they also spread the message about the Charity’s ability to assist employees and their families as well as businesses. Council - The Electrical Industries Charity is governed by a Council which meets a minimum of four times during the year. The President is the Chair of Council, which consists of up to 11 Members including the President. Council Members - Council comprises the following Members, who are Trustees and Directors, and who held office during the period:

Subgroups of Council:
Discuss and review proposals presented by the Managing Director and review and make recommendations to Council on specific issues. The President’s Group comprises the President, Vice Presidents, Immediate Past President, up to two Council Members and the Managing Director when required.
Welfare Audit Group:
This subgroup provides independent assessment of the quality and effectiveness of the Electrical Industries Charity’s welfare care programmes.

Finance, Business Planning, Investment and IT:
The purpose of the Finance Working Group (FWG) is to oversee the systems, controls and processes that may have an impact on the Charity’s ability to meet its objectives. This Working Group reports to the Council on matters regarding their financial responsibilities including financial risk management. Its role includes Budgeting and Financial Performance, Internal Financial Control and Financial Risk Management, Financial Reporting and External Audit, Reserves and Investments, and IT Strategy. Become a Trustee:
Trustees are voting members of the Charity's governing body and set out the strategic direction of the charity and work to ensure we're well managed and meet our objectives. They are also responsible by law for our financial security and transparency.
Our Trustee board needs people with a range of skills and experience. Some of which may be particularly helpful include:

Join our Emerging Professionals Board:
Our EP Board is highly influential, meeting 4 times a year the morning of the Trustee meetings to put forward key initiatives the Charity will undertake for the year. The EP Board hold 2 voting positions on the Trustee board and delivery a fresh perspective from our emerging leadings in the industry.

- Learn about the management and strategy side of charities by taking on a leadership role
- There are only 4 compulsory annual meetings, it’s the perfect volunteering opportunity for busy people

Donate
EIC rely on donations from companies and individuals to help make a huge difference to our sector. If you are a company wanting to make a donation to EIC it is important to note gifts of money to UK charities by companies are made before tax is deducted (i.e. out of gross income or profits) so no Gift Aid declaration is required. Companies can claim tax relief for donations to UK charities as a charge against income in their corporation tax computation. There are also tax effective ways of donating equipment, stock or manpower. For more information about tax when your limited company gives to charity visit GOV.uk.
Enthuse
Enthuse is a great tool to contribute to the EIC via fundraising or donation. It is EIC’s preferred online fundraising platform. Gift Aid
Gift Aid Form - If you’re a UK taxpayer, you can make your donation worth even more to our industry with Gift Aid. For every £1 you give, we can claim an extra 25p back from HM Revenue and Customs — at no extra cost to you! When you donate to us through Virgin Money Giving, we are able to claim Gift Aid on eligible donations.

Giving in Memory
A legacy gift of any size will make a difference to the future for families and individuals within our industry.
There are various ways to remember the EIC in your will:
- A residuary legacy gift is the share of your estate left over once your family has been taken care of.
- A pecuniary legacy gift is a specified amount of money left to the Electrical Industries Charity
- A reversionary legacy gift allows you to leave your estate to your dependents while they are living, but after they pass away it will revert to the Electrical Industries Charity.
Including your legacy wishes in your will is straightforward. If you already have a will, all you need to do is add a codicil.
