Overcoming an addiction is an incredibly tough challenge. The NHS estimates that just under one in 10 men and one in 20 women in the UK show signs of alcohol dependence. Very often, addiction is an early warning sign of mental health problems, therefore quick intervention is critical.

The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) is on hand to help those individuals battling with addictions in the electrical sector thanks to the funding provided by powerLottery – the Charity’s number one fundraising stream. You can play from as little as £1 a month, safe in the knowledge that the money raised from powerLottery helps support people who are struggling to kick an addiction and are ready to make the brave step to move forward with their lives.

Without the generous donations from people like you, EIC would not have been able to help Rhys Lynch, an experienced electrician. After his partner left him and their young child, Rhys had to leave his job. As a result, he encountered financial difficulties which saw him turn to alcohol and drugs as a coping mechanism.

Rhys suffered a relapse and was subsequently hospitalised. It was at that point that he decided enough was enough and it was time to carve out a better life for himself and his daughter.

EIC supported Rhys through counselling and rehabilitation which were important steps in helping him on the road to recovery. What’s more, the Charity offered Rhys financial help, not only for his debts but in order for him to update his qualifications so that he could return to work and provide for his family.

Playing powerLottery not only gives back to those in need of help in the electrical industry but gives you the fantastic opportunity to win up to £1,000 each month.
