The Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) is calling on the industry to join the revolution challenging the stigma of mental health by taking part in powerLottery.

Mental health problems affect one in four of us every year, yet too many people in the electrical sector still feel isolated, ashamed and worthless due to the deterioration of their mental health.

Someone you know, right now has a mental health problem, but many of them do not share their problems with their colleagues, friends or a loved one and therefore end up suffering in silence.

A variety of issues can contribute to mental health problems such as the end of a relationship, financial issues, severe long-term stress or discrimination and stigma, but whatever the trigger, early intervention is key.

EIC takes mental health and wellbeing of people in the electrical sector very seriously and understands how having access to a support network in their time of need can prevent mental health problems from spiralling out of control. This is why the Charity launched Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) which is directly funded by powerLottery. EAP offers exclusive access to a range of free and confidential support services including telephone counselling, rehab support, support for family and friends of alcoholics as well as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

You too can show your support for your colleagues who are suffering from mental health problems and help to challenge the stigma of mental health by simply signing up to EIC’s powerLottery today for as little as £1 per month.
