The Virgin Money London Marathon proved to be a fantastic success for the Electrical Industries Charity (EIC) with seven charity runners collectively raising over £8,000.

The 26.2-mile-long Virgin Money London Marathon is one of the most popular fundraising events on the globe, attracting thousands of people from around the UK and beyond. Since the very first annual event, which was held in 1981, marathon runners have raised over one billion pounds for hundreds of charities across the UK and provided life support to thousands of people in need.

This year, the 39th London Marathon saw an incredible 414,168 people enter the ballot and arecord 42,906 runners start the race on Sunday 28th April, with 42,549 of them, including the seven brave EIC runners, crossing the finish line at the Mall opposite Buckingham Palace.

EIC runners who completed the gruelling 26.2-mile course were: Ben Mitchell from Tanglewood Wines, Dean Wilsher from LEW Electrical Distributors, Danny Carey from Schneider Electric, Lee Cooper from Edmundson Electrical, Ross Drinkell from South West Ambulance Service Trust, and Danny Knight and Richard Whitehurst from City Electrical Factors (CEF).

Their efforts have inspired so many people in our industry to take part in next year’s event as well as raising an incredible amount which will help us to continue assisting people in our industry who have fallen on hard times and require our support.”
